Dear All,

Please let me know how we can use the VS.Net or any other MS tools / technologies to get the Meta data information of the crystal reports “.rpt” file.

I would like to get the details like data source names, report field names, selection formulas, formula definition, Running total formulas  etc in an xml format / excel or some other format. Please let me know what are the software’s required to install. Also share if you have any SAP documents related to the Crystal SDK.

Thanks in Advance.

Sam

SAP Crystal Reports Runtime Engine for .NET Framework 4.0 has failed to install : "Fatal error during installation. "

I am trying to deploy a vb.net application using Crystal Reports 2008 using Click Once.  However, it fails with the above message. Examining the install log I'm seeing the following message:

Installing using command 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msiexec.exe' and parameters ' -I "C:\Users\Vic\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD54F2.tmp\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_1.msi" -q '

Will attempt to elevate process.

Process exited with code 1603

The CR Engine version is 13.0.2000.0

I was able to install on a Windows 8 machine successfully but when I try to to export the CR report to a PDF file I get <appname> has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I would appreciate any help I can get as I am really stuck in the mud

Thanks,

Vic

Export to CSV from CR2008

We have CR 2008 installed 12.4.0.966.  I have built a report and am displaying it through a vb.net application using a crystal reports viewer control (v 12.0.2000.0 control)

When we run the report, the option to export to CSV is not available.  When I am in the report designer it is there, but not when I use the .net control.  We are using VS 2008.

WPF application with SAPBusinessObjects.WPF.Viewer will not run on other computers

I built a WPF application and added the SAPBusinessObjects.WPF.Viewer for the reports. Works great on the development machine. Will not run on any other machine. What do I need to include with the exe to allow the SAP Viewer to run on other machines? Application log says something about log4net, but I am not using anything that I am aware of that is calling this.

Thanks,

Bobby

WPF viewer crash on loading report when IsVisible false

$

Just discovered some long term instability in using the Crystal Report WPF viewer was down to its handling of loading reports when not visible.

If you do this

this.viewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = reportFile;

when

this.viewer.IsVisible == false

then at some point soon after a Null reference exception is thrown in the viewer dll.

I've had to work around it by not assigning the report until I know the viewer is actually visible.

Deployment of CR for Visual Studio 64 bit

Hello,

I have written an application that uses CR for Visual Studio. It deploys and runs fine on 32 bit systems. I want it to work on 64 bit systems, too, so I ran CRRuntime_64bit_13_0_7.msi to install the redistributable, When I select my prerequisites in VS 2012, should I see an entry for CR 64 bit? I don't.

In VS, I set the target CPU to x64 and publish (Clickonce). When I try to install it on my Win 7 64 bit system, I get an error (see image).

How can I deploy the 64 bit CR runtime with my application?

Thanks,

Dotty

I have just licenced and installed Visual Studio 2013 (version 12.0.21005.1 REL) and also licenced and installed Crystal Reports Developer 2013, Crystal Reports Viewer 2013 AND Crystal Reports For Visual Studio 2013 (CRForVS_13_0_7.exe), but it did'nt work. Are those systems still incompatible? What do I have to do to call a report from a C# program in VS 2013?

Crystal Reports Export Issue

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue when I export a report where the formatting gets very strange.  I am attaching an image, but extra letters are being added to words that are not in the report itself and do not appear if the report is exported in a Word format.

We are using Crystal Reports runtime x64.

Any issue on what might be causing this issue?

Crystal Report on web server not displaying

$

Hi

I posted a problem up earlier today and thought I had solved the problem. I am getting the same problem on our clients test enviroment now.

Dev environment: VS 2010 - CR for VS 2010 - Windows 7 - Various browsers

Client Test Environment: DotnetFX4.0 runtime - CR runtime 32bit - Windows Server 2003 - IE7 or Chrome

I have copied the aspnet_client folder and it's contents to the root folder that the web app lives in (and various other places to try and get it to work)

I have given 'Everone' access to the C:\Windows\Temp' folder - I can see crystal temp files created there.

I've tried installing Chrome but this gives the same problem.

I have overcome the log4net.dll/type initializer/report failed to load errors and now have the last hurdle.

The report simply is not there. The page appears in the browser, and I can see a button that I have placed there on the page. I am logging the progress through the code to a text file and it all seems fine. The report is simply not there.

When this happened on our test server here, putting the aspnet_client folder in the right place did the trick and it worked. I'm guessing that the problem is related to this, and that the CR viewer simply does not have access to it or something, or it's in the wrong place.

Can anyone shed any light on this. I'm on day 3 of getting Crystal working on servers and it's wearing me down....

Hello there

Please note we are using the above runtime dll for our users for crystal report in VS2010. We noticed that some our reports not working to the users machine who has windows 7 x64 bit. Same report works fine in the windows xp 32 bit machine. Those reports have grouping and sorting.

I would to know what patch we need to apply so the reports work fine to the users machine? or is there any proper solution.? We use windows click once application.

Thanks

Reports not working properly after upgrading app from Visual Studio 2008 to VS2010

$

So, I've done lots of searches both here and on google... have tried lots of suggestions but nothing seems to work.

I have a 'test' application that wrote that replicates our applications reporting functionality.  It is currently written in VS2008/VB.Net .NET 3.5 framework and uses the crystal reports 11.5 run time.  All reports are external files, this code and this set of report has been working fine for several years.  We are now trying to upgrade our dev env to VS2010 using .NET 4.0 framework (full version not the client version).

The test application does the following:

     - Shows dialog for user to pick the report file to run

     - .Load : load the report

     - Reads our DB connection info from our reg key

     - Updates the login info for the report (and any sub report if they exist)

     - Goes through the Parameters looking for one named @LocationId

If the parameter exists, we set it a defined value so the user never gets prompted.

(Any other parameters are untouched and the Crystal Viewer prompts for them as designed)

     - We then assign the report document to the crystal viewer .ReportSource

This all works fine in the current environment.

To test for upgrade I did the following.

     - Installed CR for VS2010 (have tried the Release, SP1-SP5)

     - Upgraded the test project to VS2010

     - Changed the .NET Framework to 4.0

     - Cleaned the project and rebuilt.

I then started testing various reports.  Most seem to work just fine, but a few are having serious issue.  The CR Viewer is prompting for the @LocationId parameter we are setting.. it does so over and over ... and the report never runs.

So, same exact report, just different run time versions .... very different results.

We have multiple customers, each has copies of the report(s) for our application...

each customer has their own copy of .Crystal Reports designer to modify/add reports.

What we are trying to avoid is manually updating a bunch of report across a large number of customers.

I do not write the reports, only maintain the code that displays them....

One example is as follows

There are 2 Stored Procedures

Both SP's have the @LocationId parameter as their only parameter.

There are 2 Parameter Fields Defined

@LocationId : is set in code

StatementDate : Is the Dynamic LOV (displays a String, but returns an numeric ID Value)

The first SP is used to build a dynamic LOV's from one of our tables

The second is actually used to build the report details from another table, based on what is picked in the first.

There are no 'Links' defined in the Database Expert (although I have tried adding them to see if it made a difference.. it did not)

On the reports Record Selection Formula Editor it does the following to filter the records

     {tl_sp_StatementGroups_AgedAR_Report;1.ID} = {?StatementDate}

Again, all this worked exactly as is with VS2008/CR Runtime 11.5.....

(The @LoationId was set in code and the user was not prompted for this value

The LOV of statement dates was displayed and allowed the user to pick a value as desired)

my question(s)

- Is this a bug in the VS2010 run time / or was it a bug in the 11.5 that it actually ran to begin with

- The behavior is definitely different, is there any way via VB code that I can compensate? (nothing that I've found leads me to believe this is true).

- Are we stuck with manually 'updating' a bunch of report across many different customers?

I've spent a considerable amount of time researching / experimenting with the code.. with no luck.  The only

thing that has worked so far is to modify the report and associated SP's.

Any input much appreciated.

Crystal Reports and Google Chrome

I have a question regarding using CR and Google Chrome. We recently updated CR and all applications to where CR 11 will run and work flawlessly on IE 10 and newly released IE 11, so I am now in the processing stages of testing CR running on Chrome and am running into an error that I have never seen before.

All .rpt reports work perfectly after enabling pop-ups in Chrome, however .dat excel based reports will not open at all. I receive a message about invalid license with Microsoft Visual studio which I have attached. These reports again work perfectly with IE 11 and Firefox, any ideas as to how to get it working in Chrome?

Invalid license.PNG

*UPDATE*

Tried running this application on a different users PC and .dat Excel based reports are working on that users machine while using Chrome. Needs further testing.

*UPDATE 2* Above issue is isolated to my machine, problem lie with the version of Visual studio 2010 that gets installed with SQL managment studio 2012. Never thought anything from Microsoft would cause so many issues. <-----sarcasm.

This can be closed, nothing related to SAP or crystal reports Microsoft issue.

One report works and the other doesn't - Visual Studio and IIS

I get the following error on one of my reports:

<add name="CrystalImageHandler.aspx_GET" verb="GET" path="CrystalImageHandler.aspx" type="CrystalDThe ecisions.Web.CrystalImageHandler, CrystalDecisions.Web, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304" preCondition="integratedMode" />

Windows Server 2008 R2, Oracle 11g client, Studio 2010.

The reports use the same general Crystal features. Also, the report works fine on a different server. The report was running until I made a minor change in the VB. I changed a datasource name. It runs on my desktop and, as I said, on a different server. I'm assuming it's some kind of strange configuration issue.

Thanks
Chris

Getting a variable from Report Viewer or Report in VB.net

$

Hello All,

I am trying to get a variable from Crystal Reports Viewer in vb.net VB 2010.

Dim VehicleName As String = cryRpt.DataDefinition.GroupNameFields.Item("Group #1 Name").ToString()

I am trying to get the string after the report is refreshed.

In VB 6 I used to use this:

cryRpt.DataDefinition.GroupNameFields.Item("Group #1 Name").Text

But in the new 2010 version it doesn't seem to have this option.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks,

Charles.

Negative 'Money' being displayed as junk value when using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports

$
0
0

We are in a process of migrating a VB6/Sybase based system to .Net MVC4/Sybase. The system has few Crystal reports that needs to migrated as part of the effort as well. In the new System we are using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports DLL version 13.0.7 to generate the report.

The issue we are facing occurs when query/stored procedure returns certains values with negative Amounts. In the backend system, the amount column has data type MONEY and if the query/SP returns a negative value for the column, CR prints it as junk arbitrary number. All other values are printed appropriately with proper CR currency formatting.

-3.00 is displayed as 4,674,407,370,950.00

-1989.14 is displayed as 4,674,407,368,970.00

-1658.90 is displayed as 4,674,407,369,300.00

This happens only when report is generated via CrytalDecisions.CrystatReports. If we open the report via Crystal Reports 2008, the negative amounts are populated as expected.

Please advise.

Crystal report for VS 2010 application is a little bit slow when run in a 64 bit machine

$

Hi,

Our application takes for about 30 seconds to more than 1 minute to load only a simple report (sales receipt) in a 64 bit machine preferably windows 7 and windows 2008 which is too slow for us as a 64 bit user. But this report is very fast in a 32 bit pc (windows xp and windows 7) that it takes only (a blink of an eye, ) 0.5s to 2 seconds to load, in which i'm a lucky enough because most users of our company is still using windows xp which I think crystal report application is very comfortable with. How is that happened? I don't know how this delay has happened in our 64 bit pc and I still don't how to fix this.

Anyway, the application is in c# with crystal report for vs2010 sp8 x64 for 64 bit pc and sales receipt loads only data from textboxes and datagridview that uses a dataset to push the data to the crystal report viewer (without sql server intervention).

I need help for this problem. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.
