Dynamic pick list values missing in web viewer

$

0

We have a report that uses a dynamic pick list to allow the user to select values from a list loaded from the database. When I run the report in the designer, I get prompted with a pick list. We run this report in a web UI and on one server we get the list and on another where the list is supposed to be we get a free-form text entry field that allows me to type in anything at all.

There is zero feedback from CR about what, if anything, went wrong. No event log entries, no dialog boxes, nothing. I have absolutely no idea where to even begin looking for a solution.

The non-working server is using the 64 bit runtime engine for .Net 4, 13.0.3.612 and the working one is running 13.0.2.469. I don't see anything in the release notes suggesting that the was anything "fixed" in the newer version that would break dynamic pick lists.

Crystal Reports rendering 'BarCode' to a PDF file

Hello,

We are using crystal reports 2010, runtime version, SP1 (Crystal reports for Visual Studio). We have a problem with the 'Bar Code' rendering to a PDF file. With the Barcode font  (3 of 9), printing is fine but when Crystal renders to a PDF file, it enlarges it and makes it not fit on the page correctly.

Any idea, how we can resolve this ?

Thanks,

Amit

Web Crystal Report not working after period of time

Hi

I have had a problem for a long time now on one of our web servers, it's becoming more of an issue lately due to a web site using Crystal more. The problem is that the Crystal Report Viewer does not load after a few hours. If I re ship the main DLL into the Bin folder for the site, then something gets 'reset', and hey presto, Crystal starts working again.

The problem would even arise with a basic CR, with just one Textfield on it (i.e. not show)

Web server is 32 bit Windows Server Web Edition SP 2. Asp.Net project built in VS 2012 against .Net 4.0.

Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks,

Julian

Separate pages display issue in crystal report for visual studio 2010

We migrated our web application from .net 2.0 to 4.0 and upgraded crystal reports also.

We were using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008, Version 10.5.0.0 and we converted to Cystal Reports for visual studio 2010 version 13.0.6.1027.

In the latest version after converting we are getting an issue with displaying records as SeperatePages property set to False.

The below link says that this issue was fixed in SP6.

(http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/SAP+Crystal+Reports%2C+developer+version+for+Microsoft+Visual+Studio+-+Service+Pack+6+-+Fixed+Issues)

ADAPT01682919 Blank lines when the SeparatePages property of the CrystalReportViewer is set to False.

We used sp6 and even after that the issue is not fixed.

We have also added the screen shots with the version of crystal report.

The issue we found is with the height of div present in the iframe created by crystal report.

The first div has a fixed value for the attribute height and top attribute has value 0.

In the second div the height is fixed but the top attribute has a value more than the height of the first div, due to which the gap is being created.

Since the div are created dynamically by the crystal report we are not able set value for height and top attributes of the div.

Other details:

Operating system: Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit)

Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate

Crystal Report for visual studio 2010 version 13.0.6.1027.

Please let us know if this is an existing issue.

Any guidance on how to fix this will be helpful.

Crystal Reports Export Issue

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue when I export a report where the formatting gets very strange.  I am attaching an image, but extra letters are being added to words that are not in the report itself and do not appear if the report is exported in a Word format.

We are using Crystal Reports runtime x64.

Any issue on what might be causing this issue?

Report designer crashes Visual Studio 2012 on preview

We have a web app with 20-some reports and have recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2012 and Crystal Reports version 13.0.5. When I attempt to preview a some of the reports, Visual Studio crashes every time. Other reports can be previewed with no failures.

I have been selectively removing sections of the report to try to identify what specific controls are causing the crash, but have not yet isolated the problem.

I just stumbled across a log file that appears to indicate that a C++ ASSERT occurred at the exact time that Visual Studio crashed. This log file refers to the registry key LanguagePackInfoDir and searches on the forums have found no relevant discussions.

I don't believe this is a coincidence: does anyone know anything about this?

Crystal Reports 2008 with an XSD

$

Good morning,

I have an application that I am supporting. The process in which we use is this:

We design the report in CR 2008. We generate the XSD file in VS 2008 (stored procedure). We use the ADO.NET connection and map to the XSD file. This has worked flawlessly up until now.

I have CR 2008 12.4.0.966. The issue is that the Parameter is not being seen in the XSD file. If I look at the code behind it is indeed there. If I use an OLE or ODBC connection rather than the XSD, the report generates fine.

The problem lies in the binding of the XSD and CR. I am at a loss.

I am not sure if an update to CR2008 caused an issue, a VS 2008 update or something entirely different.

Has anyone come across this?

Thank you,
T

Custom vb.net application won't print to specific trays

I have a vb.net application built in vs2005 that is used to print crystal report documents I have custom buttons setup so that reports auto print to a specific printer and tray the reports were built using crystal reports developer 11.5.12.1838.

This program works great in windows XP 32bit but I would like to install the application on a windows 7 x64 workstation and now the same application doesn't always print to the correct tray some documents will print to the correct trays but some don't. I use the RawKind to tell which tray enum to use and it just doesn't work for some trays and I'm getting frustrated.

Thanks for any help

What versions of Crystal reports are supported by the latest Crystal.net API?

$

Hi all,

We use the Crystal.net API as a connector to access binary RPT files with our change management tool, http://www.finditez.com .

We know from internal testing and customer use, the latest version of the API ( 13.0.8 ) ... service pack 8 released in December 2013 definitely supports accessing RPT files created with Crystal Reports versions 8.5 through 2013.    This includes read and write of certain elements via the API calls ( eg change datasource connections ).

However, I am unable to find any specific reference indicating how far back versions of Crystal Reports RPT files are officially supported?    Can anyone answer that?

Thank you,

Ken

Problem with log4net dll

Hi,

we have a web application with reports.

to print a report I use to use an aspx page with a crystalreportviewer and a crystalreportsource in Visual Studio 2010.

when I tested this application in localhost anything goes fine. but when I published this web application to an host ( aruba for example ) I get an error, exactly an error for publik key.

I found a suggestion here, http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ…

and I put the correct dll. but when I published the code, I got another error..

Method 'CreateRowsetCursor' .... PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' does not have an implementation

now I think that if I can install crystal package on a server I'll resolve any problems. but if I have only access to the host with ftp and access to bin etc....and I only can publish dll..page..etc...how I can resolve this problem?

thank you

CRforVS2010 Parameter Field compatibility error

$

Hi,

I am currently converting my VS2008 .NET web application over to VS2010 and have installed the new full release of CRforVS2010 (NOT Beta)

I have ran the conversion wizard and my report runs fine first time it is generated.  However, my report has 2 datetime parameters.  When I select a new date on my onscreen calendar (MS tool) it generates a post back on my page.  This is where I am getting an error:

"The types of the parameter field and parameter field current values are not compatible"

This error is not captured within my error handling but appears within my crystal viewer window.

I currently have the following code in my Page_Load code...

if IsPostBack then  crvThisReport.ReportSource = Session("ReportDoc")  crvThisReport.DataBind()
end if

I have checked the session object "ReportDoc" at this point and it is not set to nothing and all the parameter values are still set to the previously assigned values (as far as I can tell - HasCurrentValue = true), therefore I do not understand why this error would be generated, especially as it works ok first time the report is generated.

If anyone can give me some help with this I would be very grateful as I have trawled SAP and Google for answers but can not find anything.

Side Note: This code is there as I found if I print/export/zoom within the report viewer the page reloads and without this code I get another error:  'No valid report source is available.'

Forward Migration Problem (Crystal reports 9 & VS 2005)

$

0

Here's the situation:

We're migrating an application written in visual basic / asp.net on VS2005 to a new home on a 64bit OS (Windows 2003 R2) from it's current home on a 32bit OS.(Windows 2003) Normally, I'd say no-problem and just copy-paste the directory housing the app to the new server and hook it up with IIS. However, this particular application uses Crystal Reports 9 to generate reports for it's users. Which means doing things the aforementioned way breaks the reporting features of the app.

I've looked around on the net and even here and so far I've gotten the impression that we'll need to redeploy the application from VS2005 to the new location and include some .msm files (Merge Modules) and a license key in the process somehow. (See: http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10ae17a6-a41d-2b10-eb9f-8dfb2a88dc7e?QuickLink=index&…)

Now, I could probably follow the guide in the link there and figure it out, but, since I'm one of those spoiled new college kids, I've just got to ask: is there any easier/quicker way of doing this? I mean, I love reading manuals about outdated tech as much as the next geek. I just would have sooner expected there to be some simple little .exe or .msi file someplace that did the heavy lifting and just asked for the keycode when it was time.

Also, is there any concern with the new server being 64bit? am I going to need to use a newer version of the Crystal Reports Redistributable to make this work? How would that change the process of redeployment? Would there need to be coding changes?

I've got 3 more applications just like this to move as well on the same development server. After that, I'll have to move production for each one of them too. So anything I can do to save time and braincells on this is a must.

How to render report asynchronous with WPF?

$

Hi

We use CR13 in a project. This is a WPF solution. How i can render the report asynchronous with the CrystalReportsViewer control?

When I start the form in a new thread, not the main UI thread, then crashed the CrystalReportsViewer control.

System.NullReferenceException was unhandled

Message: An unhandled exception of type 'System.NullReferenceException' occurred in SAPBusinessObjects.WPF.Viewer.dll

Additional information: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

With this code work the CrystalReportsViewer, but the main UI is blocked.

public void OpenCrystalReport(ReportGeneratorModel model)

{

    if (Thread.CurrentThread == this.Dispatcher.Thread)

    {

        //show report in crystalreportviewer

        CristalReportForm frm = new CristalReportForm(model);

        if (model.ShowOnScreen)

        {

            frm.Show();

        }

    }

    else

    {

        Action<ReportGeneratorModel> delaget = this.OpenCrystalReport;

        this.Dispatcher.Invoke(delaget, new object[] { model });

    }

}

With this code we have a NullReferenceException.

publicvoidOpenCrystalReport(ReportGeneratorModel model)

{

    //show report in crystalreportviewer

    CristalReportForm frm =newCristalReportForm(model);

    if (model.ShowOnScreen)

    {

        frm.Show();

    }

}

How to start the rendering nonblocking?

missing assemblies when installing Crystal Reports (dev version) on Windows 2012 and .NET 4.5.1

$

I have a .NET 4.0 / VS2010 web application that we are in the process of upgrading to .NET 4.5.1 / VS2013 (FYI, we are running VS2013 on a Windows 2013 Server).

I understand that Crystal Reports developer version for Visual Studio does not yet integrate with VS2013 - that's OK.  I at least wanted to be able to install the Crystal Reports 64-bit runtimes and add references to the Crystal Reports assemblies in my VS2013 project.  However, when I install these runtimes onto the 2012 Server, the install appears to complete correctly without any obvious errors  - except that there are no .NET assemblies for Crystal Reports anywhere to be found on the server!

I was hoping that someone could let me know what I am doing wrong - and why the assemblies are not there after the install (as well as how to get them there).  Thanks in advance for your help!

CR for VS10, vb.net, winform: ExportIsolated Property Ignored for GroupSectionOption

$

CR for VS10, vb.net, winform application.

Using

.GroupSectionsOption = CsvExportSectionsOption.ExportIsolated

seems to be ignored by the runtime.   Note that in Crystal Designer (2008 as well as 2011 this property works as expected).

I checked the report export options and they were all set by my code as expected:

ExportFormatType property for the Report object shows as CharacterSeparatedValues {10}

ExportMode shows as Standard {0}

GroupSectionsOption shows as ExportIsolated {1}

But the export behavior is as if the GroupSectionOption was set to just Export.

In other words, each Group section appears in the csv export repeatedly for each detail record.

Is this a known bug?  Any way to work around this problem?

Thanks,

.NET SDK Application Creating _trace.glf Files

We deployed an application written using the .NET SDK.  We also deployed some of our own custom reports for it.  That all works fine.  But the customer has some legacy reports they wanted to run through our application and these legacy reports generate these _trace.glf files ... whereas our distributed reports do not.

Otherwise, the reports appear to run properly.  Customer does not want these trace files cluttering up their machines.

Unable to snap to any guideline?

This is similar to Unable to snap to horizontal guidelines

After upgrading to VS2012, update 4, I can no longer snap any object to a guideline. Snap to grid works, but not guidelines. This is a major drag (no pun intended) as I use guidelines a lot.

Is there any way to fix this?
