I have a VS2005 forms app that produces reports using Crystal Reports (10.2). I can run the app on Windows 8.1, but when I try to display a report I get an error saying that the CR runtime cannot be found. I've run the CR2005_x86 installer, apparently successfully, and the C++2005 runtime for good measure.
I've also installed VS2005 on the Windows 8.1 machine (with SP1 and SP1 for Vista) and can open/edit the reports within VS2005, but running from VS2005 gets the same "can't find the runtime" error.
I've tried changing permissions on whatever I can find (in a VM sandbox) to no avail.
Am I missing something, or is it a "can't be done - you'll need to upgrade (to VS2012 etc)"?
