Upgrade to crystal report 2008 SP3

I had crystal report basic for visual studio 2008 on my machine.

Then I upgraded to crsytal reports 2008 sp3 on my machine.

I removed all references of 10.5 framework of crystal references in web.config (like crystaldecisions references) and referenced the new references of 12.x runtime. I also removed the crystal report viewer of 10.5 and added the viewer control of 12.x library.

On running the application with crystal reports being there, I get the run time error that "object bobj is undefined". Couldn't resolve it by browsing different forums.

1) Please help and guide me on how to upgrade to CR 2008. 2) Should I remove the setup of crystal report basic for visual studio 2008 from add/remove programs from the system altogether.

Anybody's earliest help would be of real support to me. Thanks in advance.

Kaushal Shah, India.

Incorrect line spacing when exporting to Word (.doc) format

$

I recently upgraded from CR2008-sp4 (v12.4.0.966) to CR2011 (v14.0.4.738) and CR for VS2010 (v13.0.4). I have built a .net application that uses the CR Viewer control to view and export a report to PDF format (mainly for saving/printing), or Word (.doc) when the user needs to edit something.

With the old version of my app (build using VS2010 and CR2008) both PDF and DOC exports are fine. When recompiled using CRforVS2010, the PDF export remains the same but the DOC export has a problem. While the "Line Spacing" property for all text objects and database fields in the report file has the default value "Multiple of 1", the Paragraph Line Spacing for the text objects in the DOC file is set to "Multiple at 0.83" instead of Single (=multiple at 1). Only database fields are exported correctly with Single line spacing. So, the text objects seem "compressed" vertically in the DOC file.

I tried with both the original CR2008 rpt file and the new one that was saved within CR2011 - the result is exactly the same. So the problem must be caused by version 13.0 of the .net CR library. Please inform me if there is a solution or if you are planning a fix in the next Support Pack.

Thank you in advance,

Report Background issue while migrating from CR9 to CR13

Hi,

We are migrating one of out asp.net applications which is integrated with Crystal Reports 9. As part of the migration, we are migrating Crystal reports also from CR9 to CR13. In CR9 the report content is loading on a aspx page where aspx page background is an image. report background is transparent so that report content is lying directly on the aspx page.

But, in  CR13, though the aspx page background has an image, we are unable to make the report content transparent such that report content lies on the aspx page directly. The report content is displaying in  report page with white background and we are unable to make it transparent.

Any suggestions here?????

Thanks in Advance,

Krishna

we have recently moved our environment from Windows 2003/Crystal report 10 .net to WINDOWS 2008 R2/Crystal Report 2011 (13.0.4) (runtime installed CRforVS_redist_install_32bit_13_0_4)

Having issues, happening from webapplication with 32Bit Enabled on x64 bit IIS, web page is throwing following error message:  CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ParameterFieldCurrentValueException: Missing parameter values. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Missing parameter values. at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.ReportSourceClass.Export(ExportOptions pExportOptions, RequestContext pRequestContext) at CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.EromReportSourceBase.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext) --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ConvertDotNetToErom.ThrowDotNetException(Exception e) at CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.EromReportSourceBase.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.FormatEngine.ExportToStream(ExportRequestContext reqContext) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportOptions options) at CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType formatType) at ASP.fsinvoicewithsku_aspx.RunReport()

In my crystal report the parameter is linked following way and it worked in our previous version of Crystal report 10.

2) Some of the crystal reports works with subreport but they are printing blank.

Following is the asp.net code how crystal is being called: (this works from Crystal Report 10)

Dim crReportDocument As New ReportDocument
Dim crSubReportDoc As New ReportDocument
Dim crReportObjs As ReportObjects
Dim crReportObj As ReportObject
Dim crSubreportObj As SubreportObject
Dim crSection As Section
Dim crSections As Sections

Dim st As System.IO.Stream
Dim stErrorMsg As String = ""
Try
crReportDocument.Load(rptname)
crReportDocument.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(ds.Tables(0))

crSections = crReportDocument.ReportDefinition.Sections
countBolSubReport = 1
For Each crSection In crSections
crReportObjs = crSection.ReportObjects

For Each crReportObj In crReportObjs

    If crReportObj.Kind = ReportObjectKind.SubreportObject Then
crSubreportObj = CType(crReportObj, SubreportObject)
crSubReportDoc = crSubreportObj.OpenSubreport(crSubreportObj.SubreportName)
crSubReportDoc.Database.Tables(0).SetDataSource(ds.Tables(countBolSubReport))
countBolSubReport = countBolSubReport + 1
    End If
Next

Next

st = crReportDocument.ExportToStream(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat)
Response.ClearContent()
Response.ClearHeaders()
Response.ContentType = "application/pdf"
Dim b(st.Length) As Byte
st.Read(b, 0, st.Length)
Response.BinaryWrite(b)
Response.Flush()
Response.Close()

Does Crystal Report support multi-threading?

$

Hi,

I’m trying to export my reports in PDF programmably but I got intermittent errors.  Sometime my app crash and I’m getting an application error with no more information.

I’m using VS .Net 2010 with CRVS2010.  I suspect the problem is because I send 10 reports to be export at the same time with threads (I use Parallel.ForEach (C#)).   Other point I didn’t get the error on Window 7 (where VS .Net 2010 installed) but get it on Windows 2008 R2 server and Windows 2003 SP2.

My guess is we can’t export rapport at the same time because sometime this cause conflict in memory.

Someone could confirm that?

Thanks for your help.

Sub Reports continue to prompt for parameter values in VS 2010/CR 13

$

I have a report that contains 9 sub-reports.  ALL reports use the SAME set of parameters (for SQL Stored Procs).  This was originally developed in Crystal 2008 and for years, worked without a hitch.

Then we downloaded the VS 2010 Crystal Runtime and Development tools and I converted this report (eg, Saved it in VS 2010).

Now, whenever the report is run in Development or Runtime, we are prompted endlessly for the same parameters over and over and over again.  If we take the time to fill out all the parameters, the report works fine - but nothing we do has been able to get rid of the additional prompting.  I have been all over the web looking for some answer as to why this no longer works and though there are many posts, clearly, most of them are just guessing at the solution.  Nothing suggested has worked.

Then there are "answers" posted that show how to do this with ONE parameter.  That is of no help since we have about 10 parameters that (once again) ARE THE SAME for ALL reports.

Can someone direct me to an ACTUAL solution to this?  Why does this continue to work fine in Crystal 2008, but the EXACT same report, when converted to 2010, no longer works that way and instead, endlessly prompts for the same values over and over again.

Any help would be MOST appreciated as this is the ONE glitch holding up our release now for a couple weeks.

mistake while calculating sum

$

Hi,

I am using Crystal Report 13 with visual basic 2010. I am using the following formula to calculate the sum

@headerResetMetal (in header section)

Global NumberVar x;

Global NumberVar metalValue;

WhilePrintingRecords;

metalValue:=x;

x:=0;

metalValue

@sumOfMetal (in detail section)

Global numberVar x;

WhilePrintingRecords;

x:=x+CDbl({tmpValReport.MVALUE});

@footerSumMetal (in page footer)

NumberVar x;

NumberVar metalValue;

WhilePrintingRecords;

x:=x+metalValue;

The above formula sometime give the correct result but sometime while calculating the sum it take the first record of next page. For example

In Page 1 we have

200

450

500

Sum:: 1490 but it should be 1150

In page 2 we have

opening c/f: 1490

340

450

Total: 2280 but it should be 1940

I stuck here did not get any clue on net why this is happening. Could any one please help me on this ?

Crystal 13 Display Issues

When displaying reports via the web viewer, there are alignment issues.  Text overruns other text.  Zooming in and out makes it worse.  The printed PDF looks OK.  My customer doesn't like the layout issues when viewing the report prior to printing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

DateTime Parameters on .NET UFL's

$

Environment:

  • Crystal Reports 2011
  • Visual Studio 2010 / .NET 4.0

Problem:

I'm trying to create a C# UFL that takes a DateTime value from the report as a parameter and returns a string.  However, when I create the UFL using the .NET "System.DateTime" type as a parameter, the resulting UFL that becomes available in Crystal will only accept a value of type "Date".  I haven't found a way to create a C# UFL that actually takes a DateTime value in Crystal Reports.

Anyone know how to create a .NET UFL that actually accepts a DateTime value from Crystal?  Or a way to pass in a Crystal "Time" value into a C# UFL?  Either would work.

Sample UFL Code:

Left alignment is generating extra space in exported pdf.

Hello Friends,

I am using Crystal Report 13 (SP 2) for Visual Studio 2010. I have crated a CR and exported it as PDF. There is a field in my CR that contains data for approx 2 or 3 paragraphs. I have set alignment of that filed to Left. The text of that field was looking fine in preview. But in exported pdf file it contains extra space.

Please see below image for reference:

align.png

Right and center alignments are also generating extra space, and justified is not suitable in my report.

I followed many posted regarding the issue on this forum, but did not find them helpful. Please help me and guide me, what should I do to resolve this issue.

I will be very thankful to you.
