When opening a rpt file in VS 2013 (VB.NET), the editor won't open properly

All I get is a plethora of lines that look like this?

"00000000     D0     CF     11     E0     A1     B1     1A     E1     00     00     00     00     00     00     00     00"

I've installed SP14 exe, not the msi file.

Trying to bring these over from VB 2005.

Any thoughts?
