Crystal Reports and PDF

Hi All.

We have developed almost 100+ reports in Crystal reports and facing a known issue (font shirking and alignment issue) with pdf export. Since our client doesn't want to go with registry changes since there were few reports which has been up scaled to match the font.

Problem in my hand is, I cant up scale everything and every time since we have to continue to build new reports so we thought lets go for virtual pdf printer and started testing our software with bioPDF but I am facing a very strange issue with it.

In crystal report, I call PrintToPrinter function. This function is async and doesn't wait for job to complete, it is becoming very difficult for me to check as if the pdf has been generated completely or not. We don't have static content in pdf and the pages can also vary in pdf. I have to keep a check when all the files are generated since when all the pdfs are generated, I need to merge them into one file for further processing.

I have also noticed that bioPDF is taking a lot of time in generating the pdf. Basically in my process we create batches of reports which needs to be converted into pdf and then merged as a single file per batch. Now if I have created 10 batch with 500 report then it take ages to convert and sometimes it doesn't convert. it just stopes and then I have to restart the process.

My question is:

a. What I can do to make sure to move forward only when PrintToPrinter function job is completed? How can I monitor it?

b. An other bioPDF printer I can try which can handle the larger request and convert them into pdf very easily.

c. Any other option I can try?
